So how do you catch cherry shrimp in a planted tank? Is there any proven method like using a water bottle trap or a picture of david hasselhoff or whatever these shrimp prefer nowadays?

I will be switching tanks in a week or so and the moment my net enters the tank, all 20+ shrimp disappear into the heavy plants. Tried moving the plants but then the shrimp bury into the substrate for dear life.

A water bottle trap works pretty well as long as the shrimp are hungry. You won't catch all of them, but certainly many.

Be very careful to check the trap every few minutes though! For some reason shrimp are much more subject to suffocation in a bottle trap than fish.
