For the 3rd time now my l046 have made me a proud dad. 1st spawn resulted in 1 fry that I eventually lost, the 2nd spawn yielded 5 fry that eventually became 3 and now I have 10.

I see an epic bap bidding war taking shape. You can be sure that I'll be part of the fray.

I am noticing the spawning frequency being somewhere around the 6 month mark. The last recorded spawn I have was in February then again in July. They are still a juvenile colony but I think they are getting the hang of it now.

Several places actually. I started with 7 from Xingu here in wayazata and added 2 from a guy moving, don't recall the origin of those, probably Rich though since he's the only local guy who breeds them fairly regularly. Then when I had a terrible misfortune and lost several I bought another 8 from this guy: http://www.buyzebrapleco.com/ in San Diego. His shipping practices are fantastic and was a pleasure to deal with, I highly recommend him if you are in the market.

I did notice today that 4 of the fry had caught a fungal infection and had died. They will only eat BBS but the constant feedings (about every 4 hours) leaves the water quality poor. If they were easy to breed and raise they wouldn't be $100 an inch ya know!

Congrats on the spawns, Jeremy!

I have gotten two of my three groups to start up. Have had three spawns in each tank in the last three months. I have not pulled any juvies, and it appears they are gaining size well on just scrounging. I only feed dry foods also.

This is one of my breeding males sitting on eggs, with a juvie hanging out above.

Found another 6 little ones that dad kicked out of the cave last night. I suspected some activity recently and I can only assume if dad has kicked them out at such an early age that he is sitting on even MORE eggs! I will have to be careful that he doesn't over work himself as it now appears that he has a harem of 3 different females.

These will be on the BAP table in April pending any unforeseen circumstances.
