I sat down in front of my 125 full of Africans and this guy pops out of the hornwart. I have never seen it before. I have no clue where it came from and have no idea what it is.

What in the heck is it?

Do not know. Maybe try fish in hand photo?

Fish is New World cichlid. It may have Geophagine genes.

What a strange occurrence and a strange looking fish. It just appeared out of the blue?

It kind of looks like a warped firemouth. Maybe a hybrid?

Yep. No idea where it came from. I found it laying on its side just now. It likes to stay in the hornwort and rarely comes out. It has clearly had its butt kicked by something. As far as I know, no one brought me any fish. I hope people are not coming over and dropping random fish in my tanks. Don't want herpes in my tanks.

I think I am going to try to put it in anther tank where there are fewer fish to compete with.

I just found it dead. It was in bad shape last night. I don't know what it was, but it is gone now.

Looks like a bent spine firemouth in bad condition. Sorry to hear it died.
