Not that I would ever do it, but my first thought seeing that fish is that it looks like it would make excellent bait. :twisted:

cichlids are ever-evolving, im sure there's plenty more out there

Probably newly rediscovered.

Newly discovered fish are given putative names until an ichthylogist can diagnose the fish to see if is a new species or is a previously described species.
These fish shown have species names which indicates that they are already described.

Lake Victoria is a bit amazing in that it was thought Nile perch and changes in Lake Victoria waters would have resulted in loss of hundreds of species. With time, those who study fish in Lake Victoria are finding many of the species thought to be extinct. Reason why is cichlids are highly adapted to living in tough times. Pharyngeal jaws are specialized allowing cichlids to eat many items other fish cannot eat. Pharyngeal jaws are also adaptable, that is when a cichlid is hatched and raised, the jaw may take on typical character but when only a few foods are available, the jaw may change allowing cichlids to eat what is there.

I guess I should have read the article as it basically states what I wrote about rediscovery and putative names. DUH.
