Thanks to sporadic advice on this forum, my saltwater shrimp tank is finally stable enough that I can collect Lysmata spawn. The larvae turn out to to be tough as nails -- the hardest part of raising them was rescuing them from the filter.

Full details about my (nascent) experience raising these guys is here: http://bogott.net/unspecified/?p=2254 Of course, the first larvae only just settled, so there may be more challenges ahead.

VERY impressive spawning and rearing!

Now stop scaring me with that copper-nickel quarter with an invertebrate.

Your tanks aren't too small. Your fish are too big.

I thought of that right as I started to take the photo, but since it was in a separate photo tank and only for about five minutes it seemed safe. Maybe I can buy one of those all-steel pennies from the 40's just to use for scale shots.
