Shouldn't be much of a difference in growth from T5's to LED's. Each can produce great color and growth. Is the tank only 15 inches deep, am I reading that right?

Just keep in mind that with T5's you are going to have to replace the bulbs at the very least, once a year. LED's you shouldn't have to replace nearly as often, possibly 4-6 years.

If you wan't T5's I'd go with this - http://www.marinedepot.com/AquaticLife_ ... 4U-vi.html

If you want LED's I'd go with this- http://www.reefbreeders.com/it2060.html

Only short term. T5 and all other 'T' bulbs need to be replaced every 6-9 months. Depending on the fixture you buy you could be replacing 4-6 bulbs almost twice a year. If you have a 6x 54w fixture and you replace your bulbs every 6 months you are dropping 240 bucks a year ((20$ per bulb x 6 bulbs)x2) on replacement bulbs. Figure you pay 2-3 hundred bucks more for a LED fixture out of the gate vs a comparable T5 fixture and in a few years the T5 fixture already cost you more.

Look into the reef breeders fixture. I just got one and it's amazing. For a 30 inch tank you can get the 24 inch fixture and you'll be set.
Upfront it'll be more expensive but after a year it'll pay for itself.

not sure if you've already bought one but i highly recommend going LED. It will pay for itself overtime. everything in the tank looks amazing compared to my t5.

Not to write smack about LEDs (Because I do love them), but from my experience it is hard to replace LEDs once they go out. What I really mean is it is hard to find replacement LEDs/fixture parts from the manufacture. In my opinion.

It's not that hard with the new reef breeders/AJM fixtures, you can buy them individually from the distributors. Pop off the old LED, solder in the new one and you're good to go.
