So I'm setting up a 20 gallon breeder for red cherry shrimp and mystery snails. What I'm wondering is can I keep anything with them that won't be eating all the babies???

I'm thinking a really small fish like a betta or some guppies, or maybe a frog or newt would be fun too (there will be open space on the top of the tank for the snails anyhow)

Maybe no problem, but you'll get a lot more shrimp if you took the endlers out.

So fish that will not eat very many would be:

Pygmy cory
Otocinclus

Fish that may eat a few but I've had with my shrimp:

Farlowella
Whiptail catfish
Brigettae rasbora

Fish that eat shrimp but I've kept with and still kept the colony:

Dwarf puffers
Bumblee bee gobies
Peacock gudgeons

I have cardinal tetra, rummy nose, red eye tetra in my shrimps tank with a lots of java moss, and other plants and they seem to me fine. But again there might be some babe shrimps got eaten unknow, however they still produce lots young.

I do agree with the person above that the safest bet would be corys or otos. Otherwise, you are always taking a risk with any fish being with shrimp.. However, I did have a 2.5 gallon with 3 endler guppies and 3 ghost shrimp and they got along just fine
2.5 gal (betta, 2 mystery snails)
2.5 gal (ghost shrimp, plus tons of babies!)
8 gal (soon to be a shrimp tank)
20 gal (2 chocolate gouramis, 6 rasboras, 3 endler guppies, 1 albino pleco, plants)
55 gal (BRAND NEW, just began cycling, many new plants)

I had my cherry shrimp in with my black bar endlers.. Never seen any baby shrimp. I just moved the shrimp to their own tank.. Now hope to start seeing my shrimp population explode! I don't see any reason why you couldn't keep snails with shrimp though.
