can someone clarify this for me?
ive heard that when acclimating new fish that were shipped in, one should not feed live foods. but then i heard from another place that you should?
let me know what you guys think.

I'm trying to see the logic behind this.

Perhaps newly transported fish are a bit stressed and even a bit scratched up from the net. Live foods may carry underiable parasites or bacteris. This presents a small risk of infection for stressed fish.

Have no idea of what the odds of trouble from this are...

Wild caught fish may be kept off food for a few days to empty the gut. If wild caught fish are carrying gut parasites this will help to starve the parasites. It may also id fish that are carrying heavy loads of parasites vs those that are not.

Tank raised fish - no reason to with hold food. However, they will not be ready to consume food for 4-6 hrs due to stress of shipping.
