Hello,

I've been into aquarium fish most of my life as a hobby and have Cichlids and some Tetras currently.

Currently I have a 20gal high that i'm looking to something fancy and always wondered about Discus (2x Discus 1 mating pair hopefully). The tank is a new startup tank that has been up for a month empty.

I would like to try Discus but wondering about how much care they would need. I do 50% water changes per week on my cichlids in my 100gal tank. Would that be the same for Discus? I know they like a warmer temp maybe like 84 degrees.

I heard also that I should have a pre-treated tank with new water with the same temp.

Any recommendations from someone who had Discus before?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

www.simplydiscus.com is probably the largest forum focusing on this fish, so that would be a good place to start learning. These are not easy fish to keep and not at all like African cichlids. My discus tanks get 100% water changes daily.

Good luck, Willie
