so how big do these get? i cant find a straight answer. says from 6- 24 inches and everything inbetween! i want an eel or eel like fish but i dont want a 2 foot long beast. i have a 55g tank and want something out of the norm like that to put in there. i have kuhli loaches but they hide and are never seen.

They aren't huge as far as freshwater eels go. My understanding is they get to the 12" mark quick enough, then grow really slow from there. I doubt they'd ever get 2 feet though. It also depends on how much ou feed and water temperature. Keep the water a little colder it'll slow them down quite a bit.

55 would be pushing it but maybe ok. If in 2 or 3 years he is too big would you be willing to get a 125 gallon tank for him?

And they jump, gotta have the tank totally covered. I've lost 2 that jumped out during the night and were found non-living on the floor in the morning
