Any advice to growing/keeping Amazon swords in pool filter sand?

Pool filter sand is no different than other sands with an exception is narrow grit size for pool filter sand. I would suggest adding a source of iron in the substrate, such as laterite or bio gold beneath the sand.

If you're too lazy to mess with laterite, I'd just push a plant gro spike beneath every swordplant. Swords can use a lot of fertilizer for growth, so stick one in every few months.
